So yes, I'm back and doing a lot of stuff! and I keep forgetting to update the blog. ugh! Also, I've been pretty busy with all the olympics stuff going on, but I know.. no excuse... so here are my latest photos of my new life in HK. And yes, I'm still LOVING it.
August has been an interesting month. I went on a junk boat trip. We sailed around Sai Kung. Just beautiful! And I could swim in clear-clean water. Water quality in HK is a problem. It's so polluted that even if some of the beaches are pretty amazing here I wouldn't swim in most of them. Sai Kung is different. Clear. Blue. Green. Beautiful. I plan to go back next weekend and do some windsurfing.
We also had a couple of typhoons coming over Hong Kong. Everybody is so excited about typhoons here that's even funny. The whole T1, T3 thing... and then T8. And the whole city shuts down. I think only Starbucks is open! No one goes to work. The Stock Exchange is closed . Kind of phantom city, except for the few bars that open during T8 and give you the shots for free! We had a T9 a couple of weeks ago (Nuri). That was wild.
But typhoons only last about 1 day, maybe rain the next one and then, the sun is back. I'm kind of surprised how good the weather has been. Sunny, warm, clear. Nice.
I went kayaking last Friday (Cheung Chau Fridays!) with a friend around Cheung Chau island. And when I say around, I really mean it. How many people can say the kayaked around a whole island? Me! It took about 2 hours and a half, no bad at all. It was fun but as I say, water is d-i-r-t-y. Still, worth doing at least once a month. It totally feels like being on vacation. The bikini, the shorts, the flip-flops. Man, I really like the place. And the food in that place is awesome. I had vieiras for lunch!
Emily and I decided to start a list with things to do just in HK. We got about 2 pages filled. And another one with "Countries to visit while we are in HK". We've got 13 in the list. But I'm sure we are missing some...
Anyway, here are some photos of what's been going on for the last month.
